This configuration allows you to first choose the visual theme that suits your table, then the quantity actually needed according to the number of guests.

The rectangular shape remains one of the easiest to organize: it naturally follows the edge of a straight table, creates a clear zone around the plate, and helps to align places facing each other. It can also be used on a round table if the surface offers enough space between the corners.

Set of 4 or set of 6: which quantity should you choose?

The set of four is suitable for a couple, a small family, or a daily four-person table setting. On a wooden table with white or cream plates, a more graphic model can become the main decorative element. For a harmonious table, avoid mixing several very different styles for the same meal.

The rectangular placemat also allows you to refresh the atmosphere without changing the dinnerware: the large table surfaces remain identical, while the placemat's design provides the variation.

Why is the rectangular shape practical for setting the table?

The straight sides make alignment easier. Place all the mats at the same distance from the edge of the tabletop, then center the plates along the same axis. On a narrow table, keep the cutlery close to the plate to preserve more space in the center for serving dishes.

This geometry is particularly useful on rectangular tables and kitchen islands, where a regular line quickly creates the impression of a better-organized table.

How to arrange four or six place settings?

On a rectangular table, place two or three mats on each side. Keep a regular space between them and ensure that the opposite places do not excessively reduce the central area. If serving dishes are kept on the table, opt for very light central decoration.

The rectangular placemat can also be placed under a computer, a tray, or a small decorative arrangement when the table is not being used for dining.

With a tablecloth or directly on the tabletop?

Placed directly on the wood, the mat defines each place setting while leaving the material of the furniture visible. On a plain tablecloth, the twelve styles stand out more. If you add a table runner, choose a fairly understated model so that the two elements do not clash.

Tips for a visually balanced table

Limit the palette to two or three main colors. If the chosen style is already rich, use white, beige, or grey plates and clear glasses. A plain napkin can pick up one of the hues from the placemat without creating an overly coordinated effect.

For a daily meal, there is no need to fill the center of the table: a carafe, a small vase, or a few protected candles are usually enough.

Care and storage

For maintenance, follow the instructions provided on the product.
