40x40 Cushion Cover: a compact graphic format to liven up armchairs, sofas, and benches
The 40x40 Cushion Cover is designed as a compact decorative accent. Its series of retro and geometric patterns plays with circles, checkerboards, lines, stylized birds, and abstract compositions in a palette blending blue, ocher, black, olive, and ecru. The 40 × 40 cm format is highlighted, but variants are also available in 45 × 45, 50 × 50, and 60 × 60 cm sizes.
This choice allows you to maintain the same visual theme while adapting the cushion volume to the depth of your sofa or the size of your armchair. The cover is sold individually: the inner cushion must be chosen separately according to the selected dimension.

Retro & graphic
The 40 × 40 cm is ideal for creating an accent
More discreet than a large 60 cm square, it adds color and pattern without completely masking the backrest. It works particularly well in the foreground of a composition.
Where to place a 40x40 cushion cover?
On a compact armchair, the 40 × 40 cm provides enough presence to dress up the backrest while leaving the armrests clear. On a bench or a wide chair, it creates a point of color without taking up too much space. On a deep sofa, it is best placed in front of a larger cushion to create multiple levels.
This format is also interesting for a child’s bedroom, a reading nook, or a small entryway bench. If you want a more generous look while keeping the same pattern, the 45, 50, or 60 cm variants allow you to evolve your composition without changing style.
Ten patterns to build a coherent decor
The geometric shapes and stylized compositions give this series a distinct visual identity. A checkerboard or circle brings a more retro spirit, while a more linear or abstract design integrates easily into a contemporary interior. The birds add a more figurative dimension and can become the focal point of the composition.
Seventies spirit
Pair rounded patterns with warm wood, solid velvet, and a few objects with soft shapes.
Contemporary living room
p>Choose a more graphic design, then keep the sofa, throw, and rug in neutral tones.Eclectic composition
Mix two different designs but keep a common color to visually link the cushions.
How to mix several prints without cluttering?
The simplest way is to choose a color repeated across several covers. A deep blue, a cream, or a shared black is enough to create continuity even when the shapes are different. Then alternate a dense pattern with a more airy design, and potentially add a solid-colored cushion to provide a zone of visual rest.
Avoid juxtaposing only patterns of the same intensity. On a small sofa, a single strong print surrounded by two solid covers can be more elegant than three competing designs. On a large sofa, however, you can distribute several patterns if the sizes and colors are well-prioritized.
Choose the filler size first
A 40x40 Cushion Cover must be paired with an insert compatible with the chosen size. A filler that is too small leaves corners empty; a filler that is too large can distort the print or strain the seams.
40, 45, 50, or 60 cm: which effect should you choose?
The 40 × 40 cm remains the visually lightest option. The 45 × 45 cm is a versatile square for most sofas. The 50 × 50 cm adds more volume to a deep seat, while the 60 × 60 cm serves well as a base at the back of a composition or on a large bed.
On a three-seater sofa, you can for example use two large squares at the ends and an imprinted 40 × 40 cm in the center. On an armchair, stick to the small format to keep the seat comfortable. In any case, measure the filler from seam to seam rather than by following its puffiness.
Care and color preservation
Always remove the inner cushion before cleaning and follow the label of the product received for the cycle, temperature, and drying instructions. Printed patterns should be treated gently: avoid harsh chemicals and unnecessary friction. If the label allows, turning the cover inside out before washing can limit direct exposure of the decorative side.
After complete drying, reshape the corners with your hands before replacing the filler. This step helps maintain a crisp silhouette and prevents the image from appearing wrinkled or off-center.
Creating depth with other formats
Pair this series with a 30x50 Cushion Cover to introduce a rectangular shape or a 60x60 Cushion Cover as a more voluminous base. You can also find all materials, colors, and styles in the Cushion Cover collection.
Frequently asked questions
Is it only available in 40 × 40 cm?
No. The series also includes 45 × 45, 50 × 50, and 60 × 60 cm variants.
Is the filler included?
No, the cover is sold individually. Choose an inner cushion adapted to the selected size.
Can you mix several patterns?
Yes, especially if you repeat a common color and alternate a strong pattern with calmer surfaces.
Which format for a small armchair?
The 40 × 40 cm is generally the easiest to integrate without excessively occupying the seat.
A small square to immediately add character
The 40x40 Cushion Cover allows you to introduce a bold pattern without transforming your entire decor. Thanks to the ten designs and four dimensions available, the same series can evolve from a small armchair to a large sofa while maintaining a coherent graphic identity.
